CEU: 25 General ABA Topics

The course covers topics that require a basic foundation in behavior analysis.

Participation is open, but it is recommended only for individuals who have already completed a study program that includes the topics listed in the following program: Syllabus.

The prerequisites indicated here ensure a sufficient foundation for understanding the course content.

The purpose of an educational system—that is, teaching—is for the student to learn. The success of an educational system can only be evaluated based on the changes produced in the student.

Precision Teaching is a comprehensive system that allows for precise assessment of learning, timely evaluation of its effectiveness, and provides guidance to adjust teaching if the expected outcomes are not achieved.

Precision Teaching has been proven effective in improving learning across all types of students—from individuals with various disabilities to university students, from the youngest to the oldest.

Parents, behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts, psychologists, educators, speech therapists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, TPNEE (Specialized Educational Neuropsychology and Psychopedagogy Technicians).

  • Definition of Precision Teaching
  • Concept of behavioral fluency
  • Observation and measurement of measurable dimensions of behavior
  • Use of the Standard Celeration Chart
  • Setting up learning environments
  • Data-based decision-making process for timely interventions

The course includes a laboratory with the following features:

  • 8 hours of training divided into 3 sessions (3 + 3 + 2)
  • During the first session, students will develop a behavior modification project to be implemented in practice.
  • In the following two sessions, students will receive feedback on the data collected and the chart they created. The data will be analyzed, and by applying the tools and decision-making process discussed in class, the project will be adjusted and improved.

The course will be considered complete, and a certificate of completion (and CEUs) will be issued only upon passing a final exam.

The exam consists of an oral test in which the student must provide at least 4 correct answers out of 5, within a 5-minute time limit.

After completing the course, the student must contact the instructor to schedule the exam (date and time).

The exam must be taken within 6 months after the course ends, and a maximum of 3 attempts is allowed.

After 6 months and/or 3 failed attempts, the exam conditions must be redefined with the instructor and may include an additional fee.
